Sensory gardens have all kinds of benefits for people with ASD. They provide opportunity and choice for everyone to engage with nature on their own terms, in their own way, and at their own pace.
A few of the benefits of sensory gardens include:
- Play skills
- Sensory integration
- Stress reduction
- Increased creativity
- Promoting collaborative skills

Below is a list of items required to make it a success:
- Replace the low quality fill that has been in place for over 100 years. 45 tons needed minimum at $20 per ton. The AAMP Sensory Garden needs good Illinois black dirt to grow and produce healthy plants.
- Concrete & Rock. 30 yards of concrete and two truckloads of rock required to pour the sidewalks around the AAMP Sensory Garden,
- Sensory plants will be used for the garden. Upright Yew, Redbud, Korean Spicebush, Lamb's Ear, Beebalm, Spearmint, Little Bluestem Grass, Panic Grass, Muhly Grass, Butterfly Weed, False Indigo, Climbing Rose, Shrub Rose ,Grass Cat, Mint, Water Forget-me-not, Purple Moor Grass, Strawberries, Raspberries (thornless red), Narcissus 'Treviathian', Narcissus 'Erlicher', Narcissus 'Apricot Whirl' & Daffodil. The plants will cost around $1,300 for the AAMP Sensory Garden.
- Signage. This much needed redevelopment project will help restore native plants to the Pana area, which naturalizes the parks and protects people and wildlife by preserving a healthy environment. The signage highlights the many volunteers and sponsors who participated and will participate in planting and maintenance days as well as generous dontaions from local businesses and individuals that make this project possible. Parks and green spaces, whether they are national or local treasures, require signs and panels that clearly communicate while fitting into the beauty of their surroundings. Whether the panels are interpretive in nature, or simply provide information and directions, they will educate visitors for years to come.

- Features. We will be adding a water feature and benches where guests can relax. Water features are beautiful focal points for contemporary gardens. Water is both soothing and inviting. A freeze proof water line has been ran to install the water garden.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR GREAT SUPPORT!!!
